Immigration Naturalisation

For many individuals and families around the world, gaining British Citizenship represents their ultimate dream. It is clear to see why. Not only does Great Britain have a proud and rich history of immigration spanning generations, which continues today, but the opportunities on offer in the UK are unparalleled. With a strong economy, stable political system, close proximity to the EU, and a robust system of law and justice, the UK is a safe and exciting place to live, raise a family, and work. As a London based law firm, AQ Archers Solicitors understands that finding security and being able to naturalise in your country of choice is of paramount importance.

Having been awarded UK citizenship, you can live and work free of immigration restrictions in the same way as a UK national. You will also be able to apply for a British passport, allowing you to enjoy the many benefits this provides.

AQ Archers can assist you with your application for British Citizenship, including confirming whether you are eligible, the process of applying, advising on the documents you will need to submit, and guiding you through the process. Our highly experienced British Citizenship specialists have assisted many prospective migrants and their families to be awarded British Citizenship.

Am I eligible for British Citizenship?

Not everyone born in the UK is eligible for British Citizenship – if you were born in the UK and you are unsure if you are a British Citizen, check on the Home Office website or speak to an immigration Solicitor.

If you were born outside of the UK, you may be eligible for British Citizenship if:

  • You are over 18 and;
  • You are married to or in a civil partnership with a British citizen – after three years of living in the UK (you will need indefinite leave to remain / permanent residence or EU Settled Status), or;
  • You have held indefinite leave to remain (ILR) for 12 months or more, or;
  • You have held permanent residence for 12 months or more, or;
  • You have held EU Settled Status for 12 months or more, or;
  • You have a British parent, or;
  • You have another type of British nationality, or;
  • You previously gave up (renounced) your citizenship, or

If you are unsure if you meet the eligibility criteria, it is important to seek the advice of an immigration Solicitor before submitting your citizenship application. Doing so will provide you with the confidence that your application has the best chance of success.

What other requirements will I need to meet to apply for British Citizenship?

In addition to the above eligibility requirements, you will also need to:

  • prove your knowledge of English, Welsh or Scottish Gaelic
  • have passed the life in the UK test
  • intend to continue living in the UK
  • be of good character
