Immigration Tier 1 (Investor) Visa

The Tier 1 (Investor) Visa provides an excellent opportunity for those from outside of the European Economic Area (EEA) to enter and live in the UK for the purposes of investing their funds in UK companies. One of the most attractive elements of this particular Visa is that those investing larger sums can attain Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) earlier. As a London based immigration law firm, AQ Archers Solicitors understand that investors need to ensure their time is used wisely.

If you engage our services, we will manage your Tier 1 (Investor) Visa application on your behalf, allowing you to focus on your business and family. Our aim is to make the process as simple and straightforward as possible. We will iron out any possible hurdles to receiving your Investor Visa. In addition, we have a wealth of contacts for high-net-worth individuals and families, including financial advisors, estate agents, private schooling consultants, and many others.

What is the Tier 1 (Investor) Visa?

The Tier 1 (Investor) Visa is specifically designed for high-net-worth individuals to enter and live in the UK to invest their funds. If successful, your Investor Visa will typically be granted for a period of three years and four months. At the end of this period, you can extend for a further two years. One of the most valuable aspects of this Visa type is that you will be rewarded for investing higher sums by being able to secure permanent residence sooner, as follows:

  • An investment of £10 million or more will enable you to achieve ILR after two years
  • An investment of £5 million or more will enable you to achieve ILR after five years
  • An investment of £2 million or more will enable you to achieve ILR after two years
  • Crucially, you can also bring your dependant family members with you on the Investor Visa, including your spouse, any children under the age of 18, and any children over 18 who are a dependant and already in the UK.

In addition, under this Visa type, you will also be eligible to use the Super Priority Service for your application and that of your family members, which will provide a decision and the ability to collect your passport and Visa within 24 hours.

Am I eligible for the Tier 1 (Investor) Visa?

In order to apply for the Tier 1 (Investor) Visa, you will need to meet a number of criteria as defined by the UK Home Office, including that you:

  • Are from outside of the EEA
  • Are over the age of 18
  • Have £2m or more available to invest in the UK – and can prove it belongs to either you or your husband, wife, unmarried, or same-sex partner
  • Have your investment funds held in a regulated financial institution
  • There is no additional requirement for English language proficiency.

If you are unsure if you meet the eligibility criteria, it is important to seek the advice of an immigration Solicitor before submitting your application. Doing so will provide you with the confidence that your application has the best chance of success.
